Realistic Control & Arresting Tactics
Most of the unarmed combat/self defence training offered for police/law enforcement officers is directed toward arresting and controlling tactics. Unfortunately the most of the presented methods are taken out of context, making the whole training program not effective. One of the reasons/problems is teaching non effective, technically to complicated techniques/methods to not so much motivated officers.
REMEMBER:
methods have to be simple and easy to learn for an AVERAGE officer and not only instructors
As your ability to conscious & ”correct” arrest/control of the situation will be affected by different stress factors / fear, pain, tunnel vision / the methods/techniques presented at this course will be very simple, easy to learn, remember and to do with full equipment during violent and stressful confrontations. Presented methods are based on how people/officers usually will react during such a situations, using instinctive reactions/movements which will make officers skills/methods more effective.
What is more important, during the course all the training will be filmed so you will find out what is really effective & how you reacted during the exercise.
IPDTA`s program of arresting tactics is based on 2 officers patroll training / you are training to act 2 officers against 1 suspect /.
The program includes following topics / covering different stages of arresting situation /:
1. mental preparation / winning mind / - mental visualisation/preparation before officers arrive to the place for crime
2. verbal de-escalating tactics – verbal tactics to calm down the situation or to set up the aggressor for safer and easier arresting
3. physical methods – including :
* high risk protective stance
* safe closing the distance
* the art of distraction
* arresting and controlling holds
* offensive take downs
* handcuffing
* transportation
* transportation by car
* taking the suspect out of the vehicle
* controlling in arresting cell
Those basic stages of arresting tactics will be teached in such a way the officers understand the connection between all the different stages of arresting situation. The training program which includes all those different stages of arresting situation will make each of them more safe for the officer, minimizing the risk of injury / both officer`s and the suspect`s / which will of course make it easier to explain and motivate the usage of physical force.
This course is open only to Law Enforcement Officers & done in full equipment as Scenario Based Training program.
