The story of Officer Rick Sjodin

January 31 2000

“Well Slavo…….I would like to thank you and Jonas….. You see on 01-30-00, at 1600 hrs, I was dispatched to what appeared as just simple motorist assist, for a disabled vehicle in the roadway.I arrived on scene, and found the vehicle with 3 of its 4 doors open, along with the trunk open, and a M/B walking around vehicle. I got out and approached the subject and asked him what was wrong with his vehicle. He ignored me and went about his business. I asked again several more times if I could help and what the problem was. He ignored me the whole time. He next walked to the front of his car and put both of his arms above his head and began dancing.I asked my dispatch for an additional unit. I knew that there were no units within 4-5 miles of my location, but wanted them starting my way ( it was 1600 hrs which is our shift change time, and our late cars were still in rollcall).

Comment regarding our training

Slavo, David Shulman here, from the company VirtualBlade.

The video was involving training police officers in slaping skills and being aggressive with open handed techniques or defending against aggressive attackers. Also there were a couple of "boxes" that did not light up for viewing. One was on knife defense techniques and the other was the baton.
I am interested in them all, but, the knife/baton was of particular interest, but, alas not available. Is there a way I could see those 2 videos?

I much appreciate the reality and no holds barred style that you train in. It must feel good to know that you are saving lives of police & nursing professionals by having them act in a safe ,but, real time scenerio with aggression and spontinaiety that has to be delt with RIGHT NOW! My hats off to you. I'll feel much safer when I visit Sweden in the future knowing your LE's are so well trained.
I look foward to hearing from you. Write back at info@virtualblade.com if you please.

Thanks again and stay safe.

David

Another succesfull story

Hey Guys,

I got this email from an Officer in Romeoville I trained with this past spring. Sounds like things went well for him. Nice to hear when things work out for the good guys.

Hey Rick,

I hope this note finds you and your family well. Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know we had our first successful use of the ESDS.
To make a long story a little shorter, one of the officers who had attended your seminar at our rec center (Ofc. P... T...) was dispatched to a fight-in-progress.
When he got there, someone started to get in his face. After he told the guy to get back, he had to give him a shove since he wasn’t listening.
The guy took a swing at the officer and hit him in the chest.
The officer then responded with multiple slaps to the facial area.
According to the officer, the guy went down after two, so the third never even landed.

Help arrived and the bad guy taken to jail. I can’t thank you enough for coming down and showing everyone the tip of the ESDS iceberg (so to speak).

I’m going to let Slavo know of this success story as well.

Take care and be safe,

Bryan .....
